These ministries give us opportunities to be the hands and heart of Christ to others in our community who need His presence. All of these organizations seek your Christian involvement or participation in extending mercy to others.

Adopt-a-Child Christmas Program

For over 30 years, our annual Christmas program has provided an opportunity for parishioners to give presents to children of families who are in need within our parish, the Columbus Diocese, and throughout Reynoldsburg, Pataskala and Vinton County. Volunteers help to create giving cards that parishioners select in order to purchase items for children. Children are "adopted" before or after Masses in early December, and gifts are returned on the following weekend. Volunteers then help to organize the gifts once they're returned to the church and to prepare the gifts for delivery to our various organizational recipients. If you have questions about our program, know of a family in need this Christmas, or would like to become involved as a volunteer, please contact our coordinators.

Adopt-a-Student School Supply Program

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 5253, help us serve our neighbors from the St. Francis Center in McArthur with a program that provides needed school supplies to students in Vinton County, Ohio’s smallest and most impoverished county. Through your donations collected on the final two weekends of July, the Knights help fulfill students' needs by collating, packing and then distributing kits that contain basic school supplies. On the following Monday evening from 6:30-8:30 PM in the PAC Room, volunteers work to collate and pack the kits, which are delivered to the St. Francis Center by the Knights on the next day. We welcome all ages to help pack school supply kits, especially families and groups performing service together. For more information, please contact the liaison for Knights of Columbus #5253.

Helping Hands Food Ministry

This ministry is devoted to feeding the hungry in our community, a Corporal Work of Mercy. Parishioners donate food and personal items in our collection box located in the vestibule of the church. These are delivered monthly to the Reynoldsburg Helping Hands Food Pantry located at 7356 E. Main Street to help stock its shelves. Our coordinators speak with the pantry director to determine monthly needs and then they communicate these items through the bulletin, website, and vestibule bulletin board. Parishioner donations are collected on the final weekend of the month and delivered to the local pantry. In addition to donating food items, volunteers are always welcome to help carry donations to the car on collection Sunday.  Please contact our ministry coordinators for more information.

Knit and Crochet Group

An expansion of the Knitting and Crocheting Ministry of St. Matthew Parish in Gahanna, our knitters and crocheters joined forces in 2009 to provide handmade items to the needy within the Columbus Diocese and outlying counties. This ministry is open to all, including school-age children 9-12 with parental or adult supervision. Our ministry meets every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 9:30-11:30 AM in the Bride’s Room of the church. If this time is not convenient, we can provide patterns for our projects so you can knit or crochet at home. All skills are welcome, and we teach the basics of knit and crochet for beginners. We provide hooks, needles, and yarn for your project. We gratefully accept these items for donation and will share them with our group. For more information or to become involved, please contact us.

Matthew 23:11

Following its foundational scripture, “The greatest among you will be the one who serves the rest,” this volunteer organization supports the needs of those during crises such as a family death or serious illness by providing transportation, house sitting, meals, or in the case of death, a meal following the funeral. Funeral luncheons are held in the PAC Room and, depending upon the time of a funeral, are served between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Volunteers are needed who are willing to send food, set-up the luncheon, serve food, and/or clean up after. If you or your family need assistance from Matthew 23:11, or if you'd like more information about becoming involved, please contact us.

Military Outreach Program

Our Military Outreach program exists to serve and support our soldiers abroad, their families at home, and our local veterans. This ministry has an annual collection to organize, collect, collate and ship items to military family members deployed overseas and to an  “adopted” unit. Packages are shipped out by volunteers year round, after the spring drive, and in November through the Christmas Care Package program. The Military Outreach Program has worked in partnership with the local VFW Post 9473, St. Vincent de Paul, Girl Scout troops, Latchkey, and the St. Pius X Parish School of Religion (PSR). Do you have a military family member or relative deployed overseas or do you have any questions regarding our program? Please contact us by telephone or email.

St. Pius X Vocation Prayer

In every age Lord, you raise up women and men who are strong in their faith and bold in their actions to give witness to the Gospel.

Fill St. Pius with Your Spirit and give us a burning desire to make a difference in our world because of our love for You.

Bless our Church with holy and courageous priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers, devoted married couples, dedicated single men and women and enthusiastic youth.

We ask in Jesus' name.
