Our Vision: Overview of Planned Campus Improvements
Renewing All Things in Christ Capital Campaign
Total funds required: $6,088,062
- New building costs, $5,102,810
- Soft costs (e.g., fees, furniture, kitchen equipment), $985,252
Phase 1: Hohman Hall & Business Office Expansion
Phase 1: Funds required: $2,541,135
- The Hohman Hall Expansion will renovate the existing property and build a new property adjacent to it. A second story will be added to Hohman Hall to house our new Latchkey and Youth Ministry Center. The first floor will be used for needed storage space to reduce overall parish costs. A new, 7000 sq ft Parish Center will be constructed. Accommodating up to 299 people, this center will be available for parish weddings or other approved functions and provide a new revenue stream. For flexibility, this single large room will be capable of subdivision into three separate meeting spaces. It will include an industrial kitchen, a bride's room, and restrooms. A covered portico will provide access for pick-up or drop-off at the center.
- The existing Rosary Garden will be relocated between the new Parish Center and our new Business Office Expansion.
- Our Business Office Expansion will include construction of seven additional administration offices that will allow us to relocate to the west side of the rectory. All administration offices will move out of the current rectory offices and into this new expansion. A new entrance to the expansion will be included.
Hohman Hall Expansion
Business Office Expansion
Phase 2: Church Narthex Expansion
Phase 2: Funds required: $446,253
Our current vestibule is just over 1,000 sq ft. Our plans include an expansion of the vestibule to over 2,000 sq ft. This will give us ample room in the vestibule for greeting and fellowship before and after all Masses. We also plan to add an additional 1,700 sq ft of restrooms, an adoration chapel, and reception and meeting areas. This will increase the total size of the area to approximately 3,700 sq ft. The original boiler system for the church, installed in 1969, will be replaced with a more efficient unit.
Phase 3: St. Pius X School Expansion
Phase 3: Funds required:
- New single-story building, $2,115,422
- Complete second-story building: Add $1,300,000 (not in totals)
Our plans for the school building include a first- and second-floor expansion, amounting to an increase of 9,200 sq ft. Planned improvements include a secure entry into the school, new administration offices located on the first floor, a spiritwear store, and an elevator. New classrooms for our kindergarteners and first graders will be added to the first floor, and a junior high wing will be located in the new second floor addition. In 2012, we completed our electrical upgrade to the school which will power this expansion.
Building Progresses Despite Frigid Temperatures
Despite the frigid temperatures, building continues with the new Bride’s Room, workshop meeting rooms, industrial kitchen, and large partial basement. Please pray for our dedicated and talented construction crew, and all those who serve us through inclement weather. Preparations are being made to pour concrete flooring.
Building Continues, Move to Hohman Hall a Success
The December 18th move of items from the storage container at the back of the parking lot into the new build of Hohman Hall was a great success, and we thank all of the many youth and adults who helped us. Building continues with the new Bride’s Room, workshop meeting rooms, industrial kitchen, and a large partial basement.
Campaign Update October 2017
As always, thank you for your prayer, commitment to the parish community, and your generous monetary support. This article includes our October 2017 Campaign financial status, as well as updates on progress in Hohman Hall. Many hands will be needed to help move items from temporary storage into the completed Hohman Hall once the building passes inspection. Please watch the bulletin for an update on the date; we are currently planning on December 1, 2017.
Receptions for New Parishioners on November 6 & 7
Two receptions for the Continuing to Renew All Things in Christ Capital Campaign are planned for new St. Pius X parishioners on Monday, November 6 and Tuesday, November 7 at 7:00 PM in the PAC Room. New parishioners who were not present for our initial receptions in August/September 2016 when our campaign got underway, or existing parishioners who have not been able to attend a previous reception, are invited to attend one of these events. An RSVP to Campaign Chair John Beyer is required to attend. Please contact John at 614-866-2859 or Jbeyer@spxreynoldsburg.com.
Hohman Hall Exterior and Interior Improvements
Hohman Hall continues to be transformed into our forthcoming Youth Ministry and Latchkey Center with plenty of changes as both the exterior and the interior have had significant work completed since our last report. On September 7, 2017, our new, three-phase electrical transformer was installed. This will provide all power to the new buildings.
Ministry Leaders: Communicate Your Storage Needs
As the Continuing to Renew All Things in Christ Capital Campaign progresses with the new build and expansion of existing Hohman Hall, ministry leaders who currently purchase off-campus storage space are asked to contact our Assistant Business Manager John Beyer at firstname.lastname@example.org with a formal request for on-campus storage requirements.
Hohman Hall Progress Continues
In June 2017, work began on Phase I with the Hohman Hall renovation and expansion. Steady progress has been made throughout the summer, even despite the intense rain we have received. The scope of the improvements is very evident, as the entire second floor is now complete including trusses and a roof. New Campaign totals are included in this online update.
Final Permit Obtained, Phase I Begins
On Tuesday, May 30, Phase I plans were approved by the City of Reynoldsburg following a review and construction began on Hohman Hall on May 31. Pledges are needed for Phase II which includes the expansion of the church's narthex. New pledges continue to arrive this month. Your generosity and commitment to honoring your campaign pledges have allowed us to make this outstanding progress.
Hohman Hall to Begin Soon
This campaign update includes recent pledge totals. Because of your generosity and commitment to making pledge payments, the parish has met its diocesan financial responsibilities in order to begin Phase I construction and has received approval from Bishop Frederick Campbell. The renovation of Hohman Hall will begin in May and will house our new Latchkey and Youth Group Center. Thank you to the many people who have helped us to move the St. Pius X Latchkey and St. Pius X Youth Group belongings to temporary storage.
Capital Campaign Reaches Milestone
Pledges continue to arrive. We've reached a milestone by collecting our first $1M through your generosity and your continued commitment to making pledge payments. This is one of the primary reasons that we are poised to break ground on the Hohman Hall expansion in May 2017 instead of next year. Help will be needed in April to move items from Hohman Hall to a large storage bin so that construction can begin. Msgr. Funk, the capital campaign team, and the staff of St. Pius X want to thank all of you for your continued support and prayers toward this wonderful endeavor.
Phase I To Begin Sooner Than Planned
Thank you all for your prayers and financial support. Because of your support, we have been able to move our Phase I groundbreaking date from Spring 2018 to this year. This update includes new pledge totals, including the tremendous number of campaign donations recently made in the memory of parishioner Peg Brock; a description of the drainage preparation work near Hohman Hall; and details about the site planning for Phase I.
